Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower) announced that it hosted a delegation from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to review progress on the development of a global district cooling standard and other joint initiatives.
The meeting focused on the development of a global district cooling standard currently being prepared by ASHRAE to promote best practices and enhance efficiency and sustainability across the district cooling sector.

The delegation also reviewed progress on a research project aimed at advancing next-generation district cooling systems. According to Empower, a draft work statement has already been shared with the company for technical review and feedback, leveraging its expertise in the district cooling industry.
Discussions also highlighted the growing role of district cooling in supporting data centres as demand for digital infrastructure continues to expand globally. Both parties explored opportunities to utilize Empower’s infrastructure to deliver highly efficient cooling solutions that enhance operational performance while contributing to carbon emission reduction.
Empower stated that continued coordination between the two organizations will help support the development of more sustainable and efficient district cooling services while contributing to global sustainability objectives.
Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Empower, said the partnership reflects the strength of the relationship between Empower and ASHRAE and reinforces the importance of international collaboration in developing technologies and solutions that improve energy efficiency and sustainability.
