DFM-listed Emirates NBD has announced that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the merger of its Indian branches with RBL Bank Limited, with the integration scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2026.
In an official disclosure submitted to the Dubai Financial Market on October 19, Emirates NBD confirmed that the Indian banking regulator had approved the Scheme of Amalgamation involving its existing branches in India and RBL Bank.
Under the approved arrangement, all Emirates NBD branches operating in India will become branches of RBL Bank Limited from December 1, 2026.
The announcement follows Emirates NBD’s earlier disclosure on June 18, 2026, confirming the completion of its acquisition of a 60% stake in RBL Bank Limited.
The latest regulatory approval represents a further step in the integration of Emirates NBD’s existing Indian banking operations with RBL Bank following the majority-stake acquisition.
The approved amalgamation establishes a formal timeline for transferring Emirates NBD’s Indian branches into RBL Bank’s branch network.
Once the arrangement becomes effective, the affected branches will operate under RBL Bank Limited rather than as separate Emirates NBD branches in India.
The disclosure confirms the regulatory approval and implementation date but does not provide additional information regarding the financial impact of the amalgamation, integration costs or operational changes for customers.
Emirates NBD has not disclosed any further conditions or changes to the December 1 implementation schedule in its latest announcement.
The development marks another milestone in Emirates NBD’s expansion and integration of its banking operations in India, following its acquisition of a controlling interest in RBL Bank.
