Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum have commenced natural gas supplies from the Khor Mor field in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity, marking a significant milestone in expanding gas sales and supporting electricity generation in the country.
Under an agreement signed with the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, the companies will supply 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (100 MMscf/d) from the Khor Mor gas processing facility to the Kirkuk Taza power station for an initial period of one year. The gas supply is expected to support local electricity generation and improve power services across Iraq.
The new supply arrangement follows the completion of the KM250 expansion in October 2025, which increased production capacity at the Khor Mor field by 50% to 750 MMscf/d. The expanded capacity enables Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum to serve new markets while strengthening Iraq’s energy infrastructure.
Commenting on the milestone, Majid Jafar, CEO of Crescent Petroleum and Managing Director of the Board of Dana Gas, said the first gas deliveries represent an important step in supporting Iraq’s growing electricity demand while advancing the development of the Kurdistan Region’s gas sector. Dana Gas CEO Richard Hall added that the agreement allows the company to realise the benefits of its expansion programme and supports greater energy cooperation within Iraq.
The Khor Mor gas project currently supplies fuel for more than 80% of electricity generation in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, providing affordable power to more than 8 million people. Total investment in the project has exceeded US$4 billion, supporting more than 47,000 direct and indirect jobs, with further growth expected as production capacity continues to expand.
