ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S) announced an order for four next-generation LNG carriers valued at approximately USD 900 million (AED 3.3 billion), further expanding its global LNG shipping fleet to support growing worldwide demand for natural gas.
The new vessels, each with a capacity of 175,000 cubic metres, will be built by Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai and are scheduled for delivery in 2029, supporting ADNOC’s recently launched global LNG marketing and trading platform.
Key highlights:
• Ordered four next-generation LNG carriers worth approximately USD 900 million
• Each vessel will have a capacity of 175,000 cubic metres
• Delivery scheduled for 2029
• Latest order increases ADNOC L&S’ LNG newbuild programme to 18 vessels
• New vessels expected to operate on long-term charters
• Supports ADNOC’s target of 47 mtpa of marketable LNG by 2035
The company also announced:
• Delivery of “Meera”, the first of four Very Large Ammonia Carriers (VLACs)
• Meera has a carrying capacity of 93,000 cubic metres, making it one of the world’s largest ammonia carriers
• Eight additional LNG carriers remain under construction for delivery from 2028
Since 2022, ADNOC L&S has:
• Committed more than USD 5 billion to fleet expansion
• Ordered a total of 32 vessels
• Taken delivery of nine vessels
• Has 23 additional vessels scheduled for delivery through 2029
According to ADNOC L&S, the investment strengthens its ability to meet growing global demand for LNG while supporting long-term contracted revenues, sustainable shareholder value and ADNOC’s broader LNG growth strategy. The new vessels will also feature advanced fuel-efficient designs to improve operational efficiency and reduce emissions intensity.
