Abu Dhabi National Investment and Development (ADID) has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, QITAF Holding, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Madagascar’s State Procurement Agency to develop a strategic partnership focused on vanilla and agricultural products.
The partnership aims to establish an integrated value chain connecting agricultural production in Madagascar with processing, manufacturing and value-added activities in Abu Dhabi, with the resulting products targeting regional and international markets.
Under the proposed partnership, an integrated vanilla platform would be developed in Madagascar covering farmers, producers, aggregation and sales, supported by quality assurance, traceability and transparency systems.
In parallel, QITAF intends to develop an integrated processing and manufacturing hub in Abu Dhabi. The facility would process vanilla, extract its components and transform the agricultural product into higher-value products and ingredients.
The targeted product portfolio is expected to include vanilla extracts, powders, flavourings and specialised ingredients for industries including food and beverages, cosmetics and personal care, pharmaceuticals, fragrances, household products and specialised industrial applications.
The proposed value chain would begin with farming and producers in Madagascar before moving through aggregation, quality control and traceability. Processing, manufacturing and value addition would then take place in Abu Dhabi, followed by the distribution and export of finished products to international markets.
ADID said the initiative is also intended to support farming communities in Madagascar through training, sustainable agricultural practices, employment and skills development, while supporting advanced food and agricultural industries and supply-chain capabilities in Abu Dhabi.
