The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen capital market cooperation between the UAE and Sri Lanka.
The agreement aims to promote knowledge exchange, support collaboration across trading technologies and post-trading infrastructure, and explore opportunities to expand cross-market access.
Under the MoU, ADX and CSE will share market expertise and cooperate across areas including electronic trading systems, exchange trading, technical infrastructure, market surveillance, clearing functions and post-trading capabilities.
The two exchanges also plan to organise joint conferences, seminars and educational programmes, while exchanging knowledge on financial products including exchange-traded funds and derivatives.
A key part of the agreement will allow the Colombo Stock Exchange to explore joining Tabadul Hub, Abu Dhabi’s digital exchange network designed to facilitate mutual market access and trading connectivity between participating exchanges.
Potential participation in Tabadul could provide international investors with greater access to Sri Lanka’s capital market while creating opportunities for Sri Lankan investors to connect with regional and global markets.
Discussions around the agreement were initiated by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the UAE, Prof. Arusha Cooray, during the CSE’s Invest Sri Lanka Investor Forum held in the UAE earlier this year.
