Emaar Properties founder Mohamed Alabbar has offered a first glimpse of a proposed development called Dubai Mall Plaza and Hotel, signalling another potential addition to Downtown Dubai’s retail and hospitality landscape.
On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Alabbar shared a short video on his verified Instagram account, accompanied by the caption announcing that Dubai Mall Plaza and Hotel is coming soon.
The video featured a computer-generated visualisation of the proposed development, showcasing pedestrian-friendly plaza areas, illuminated architectural features and the Burj Khalifa in the background.
The preview suggests a new hospitality and public-space development within the wider Dubai Mall district, although detailed project specifications have not yet been disclosed.
Alabbar did not reveal the project’s investment value, construction timeline, hotel capacity or expected opening date.
The announcement comes as Dubai Financial Market-listed Emaar Properties continues expanding its flagship Dubai Mall destination.
In June 2024, Emaar announced an AED 1.5 billion expansion of Dubai Mall, with plans to introduce approximately 240 additional luxury retail and dining outlets.
The company is also developing Dubai Square at Dubai Creek Harbour, a major retail and entertainment destination designed to incorporate advanced technology and new shopping experiences.
The latest preview adds to the pipeline of developments associated with Emaar’s wider retail and hospitality ambitions in Dubai.
Further details regarding Dubai Mall Plaza and Hotel are expected to clarify the project’s scale, development timeline and commercial offerings.
