EFG Hermes UAE LLC has announced the launch of market-making and liquidity provision services on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), marking an expansion of its capital markets operations in the UAE.
The company, part of EFG Holding and regulated by the UAE Capital Market Authority, aims to improve trading liquidity, enhance market efficiency and support more effective price discovery for DFM-listed stocks.
The launch adds EFG Hermes to DFM’s Market Maker programme, which is designed to strengthen trading activity and improve the overall investment environment for institutional and retail investors.
Under the programme, market makers continuously provide buy and sell quotations for securities, helping improve order book depth and potentially narrow the difference between buying and selling prices, known as the bid-ask spread.
This mechanism can make it easier for investors to execute transactions, particularly in stocks where trading activity and available liquidity may be limited.
Khalifa Rabba, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Financial Market, welcomed EFG Hermes as a market maker, highlighting the growing importance of institutional liquidity providers in supporting efficient trading and strengthening Dubai’s capital markets infrastructure.
Ahmed Waly, Global Head of Brokerage at EFG Hermes, described the launch as a strategic expansion of the firm’s platform, combining advanced execution technology with its established regional presence.
The company said its electronic trading infrastructure is designed to support continuous two-sided pricing, providing liquidity to both institutional and retail market participants.
Raymond Wasef, Head of Market Making and Liquidity Provision at EFG Hermes, highlighted that the new services complement the firm’s existing brokerage, investment banking, research and capital markets activities.
The initiative is also expected to support the visibility and accessibility of DFM-listed companies, potentially encouraging greater participation from regional and international investors.
The launch forms part of broader efforts to deepen liquidity, improve trading efficiency and strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading international financial centre.
