Ghitha Holding and Amazon have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore a seasonal fresh produce initiative that would connect UAE farms more directly with Amazon’s supply chain.
Under the proposed initiative, Amazon’s customer demand data would help guide seasonal crop selection, while Ghitha Holding would provide its agricultural expertise and infrastructure.
The companies aim to deliver freshly harvested, locally grown produce to customers within minutes through Amazon Now, shortening the journey between farms and consumers while creating more opportunities for local farmers.
The collaboration also includes plans to develop a new packhouse and distribution centre at Food Tech Valley, Dubai’s government-backed food innovation hub.
Ghitha Holding and Amazon also plan to expand the range of UAE-sourced Ghitha brands available through Amazon Now in the coming months.
Amazon Now already offers products from several Ghitha Holding businesses, including Al Ain Farms, Marmum Dairy Farm, Al Ajban Poultry, Arabian Farms, Al Jazira Poultry Farm, Nassar Al Refaee Trading Company, Asmak and Abu Dhabi Vegetable Oil Company.
Products currently available span dairy, poultry, seafood, eggs, locally grown fruits and vegetables, organic produce and processed fruits and vegetables.
The collaboration aims to support local food production, introduce greater use of technology and customer data into agriculture, and contribute to the development of a more sustainable UAE food ecosystem.
